Vincentians from the Mobile-Baldwin area gathered to observe Ozanam Sunday with the annual Bread and Soup Banquet. The banquet features a simple meal of soup, bread, and water to express solidarity with individuals in our community who face food insecurity and struggle to provide sufficient nourishment for their families daily.
Ozanam Sunday is celebrated on the last Sunday in April each year by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This day commemorates the founding of the Society on April 23, 1833, as well as the birth of Frédéric Ozanam on the same date. It serves as a reminder of the Society's commitment to charitable work and the spirit of friendship among its members.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul supports those in need across the Archdiocese of Mobile through seventeen parish conferences and 262 members. In the year ending September 30, 2025, the Society provided over $568,000 in financial aid and nearly $88,000 in goods and services, impacting thousands. Members logged almost 20,000 volunteer hours and traveled over 59,000 miles. The Society welcomes volunteers, donations, and new parish involvement.
